What is the connection between the permissibility of seeking help from the living, as mentioned in His (the Almighty’s) saying: {So the one who was from his [Moses’] party sought his help against the one who was from his enemy} [Al-Qasas: 15], and what was mentioned in the story of Joseph (peace be upon him) regarding the cupbearer’s forgetting to mention Joseph to his Lord, which was due to Joseph’s seeking help from other than Allah?

Scholars have agreed on the permissibility of seeking aid (istighathah) from the Messenger of Allah and from any living creature capable of providing assistance, citing Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths as proof. Seeking aid from a living creature in matters it is capable of does not contradict Tawhid (definition) (monotheism), as exemplified by Yusuf (peace be upon him), and his stay in prison was not a punishment but rather an honor and an increase in reward.
