What is the ruling regarding my prayer, given the intermittent brown and yellow discharge I experience twenty days after my postpartum bleeding (nifas) has ceased?

There is no minimum limit for lochia (post-natal bleeding); whenever a woman sees purity, she should perform ghusl (ritual bath) and pray. As for the yellowish or brownish discharge after the cessation of lochial blood, there is a difference of opinion regarding it. The more preponderant opinion is that it is still considered lochia as long as it occurs within the forty-day period. In this case, you should refrain from prayer and fasting, and your husband should not approach you until the bleeding stops or the forty-day period ends. The other opinion is that it is not considered lochia after the blood has ceased, so you should pray and have the rulings of pure women.
