What should I do about a relationship I have with a young man who has neither a job nor a degree, given my parents' rejection and disapproval of our marriage?

Islam has forbidden any relationship between a man and a woman outside the bounds of marriage. As for marrying the young man, if he possesses good character and religious commitment, and has ambition and strives to work, there is no impediment to convincing your family to accept him. It should be emphasized that having limited means and lacking a degree are not deficiencies in a man; what truly matters are religious devotion and good character, and Allah has promised wealth to those who marry. There is no way for you to marry him except with your father's consent, unless he unjustly prevents you from marrying a suitable partner, in which case the matter may be referred to the Sharia judge.
