Is a Muslim sinful or in a difficult situation if his love for a particular prophet, such as Prophet Yusuf, outweighs his love for the rest of the prophets, while believing that there is no distinction between any of His messengers? And is Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) more deserving of that love, or are all the prophets equal?

Love for Yusuf (peace be upon him) is obligatory, as he is one of God's chosen prophets and due to his noble character. However, his love should not exceed the love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for anyone who loves someone more than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is mistaken and weak in faith. The perfection of faith is for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to be more beloved to the believer than all of creation, as stated in the Hadith of Al-Bukhari, where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Umar ibn Al-Khattab: "No, by Him in Whose Hand is my soul, [you will not be a perfect believer] until I am dearer to you than your own self." Therefore, a Muslim should frequently study the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) biography and contemplate God's praise of him to increase his love in their heart.
