Is it permissible to supplicate in prayer that Allah Almighty makes a specific person a spouse for me, and how should this supplication be made?
It is permissible for a girl to supplicate for marriage to a specific man, as long as he is lawful for her. It is preferable that she qualify her supplication by saying: "If it is good, then make it easy for me, and if it is evil, then turn it away from me," because the servant does not know the unseen. This demonstrates perfect etiquette with Allah and entrusting matters to Him. For Allah knows what is best for His servants, and a servant might be distressed by what he sought, as in the supplication of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help; rectify all my affairs for me, and do not entrust me to my soul for the blink of an eye." The blameworthy attachment is attachment to anyone other than the husband after Allah Almighty.
