Did the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbid tucking up garments or hair, and does this include folding the sleeves of a shirt, and is it specific to prayer only?

The hadith (definition) of Ibn 'Abbas in the Two Sahihs prohibits tucking up one's garment and hair during prayer. Imam Al-Bukhari titled a chapter with it: "One should not tuck up his garment in prayer," and this is not an absolute prohibition. The prohibition includes doing so before the prayer, and Qadi 'Iyad attributed this view to the majority. Evidence for this is the action of Ibn 'Abbas when he untied the braided hair of 'Abdullah ibn Al-Harith during prayer. Folding the sleeves of a shirt also falls under this prohibition, as it is included in the meaning of "tucking up."
