The answer

"The 'Aqiqah is recommended (Mustahabb) and not obligatory (Wajib), and there is no sin in not slaughtering it or delaying it. The Sunnah is that it be on the seventh, fourteenth, or twenty-first day. If it is delayed beyond that, that does not negate its validity, but one misses out on the preferable time. Weeks are not considered after that, but it is slaughtered at any time. The father's presence is not a condition for the validity of the 'Aqiqah. If he can delegate someone to slaughter it at the prescribed time to attain the virtue, that is preferable.
