Is kissing the hands and feet of a six-month-old girl forbidden (haram)?

There is no harm in kissing children out of love, mercy, and compassion. This is affirmed by the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Some jurists have explicitly stated its desirability. The proof of its desirability is what Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that Al-Aqra' ibn Habis saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, kissing Al-Hasan, whereupon he said: "I have ten children and I have never kissed any one of them." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, he who shows no mercy will not be shown mercy."
