Is Zakat obligatory on my possessions and income that I spend on my family and needy relatives, and how much is it?

There is no zakat on rented or unrented vehicles. However, if the money obtained from their rent reaches the nisab (equivalent to 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver) and a whole year passes on it, then zakat of 2.5% becomes obligatory on it. But if the income is spent during the year, there is no zakat on it.
