What is the correct order for making up numerous missed prayers when one is unsure which prayer to begin with? Should I start with Dhuhr, then Asr, then Maghrib, then Isha, then Fajr, and continue in this order, or should I start with Fajr, then Dhuhr, then Asr, then Maghrib, then Isha?

We have previously explained the scholarly opinions regarding the order of making up missed prayers, and we have favored the view that ordering is not obligatory. However, holding the view that it is obligatory is more cautious and more absolving of responsibility.

Scholars have differed concerning which prayer one who does not know the earliest of his missed prayers should begin with. Some have said he should start with Dhuhr (which is the more plausible view), while others have said with Fajr.

As for one who knows his first missed prayer, he should begin with it when making up, in adherence to the order.

It is necessary to continue observing the order until all missed prayers are made up. So, if you only prayed Dhuhr, Asr, and Maghrib on one day, then on the following day you would begin with Ishaa, then Fajr, and so on.
