How can zakat al-mal (money) that is six years overdue be paid?

If the bonus share reaches the nisab (minimum threshold) and a hawl (lunar year) passes over it, then its zakat (obligatory charity) becomes due at one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%). If zakat has not been paid for years, then it must be paid for all the past years since the wealth reached the nisab.
