What should I do with my wife who refuses to close the bedroom door when she sleeps, does not wear trousers under her abaya, and her maternal cousin's son entered upon her while she was bareheaded, and she looks at men without shame, and shakes hands with her paternal cousins, claiming they are young, knowing that we have two daughters, and she does not accept my advice?

A husband should explain to his wife the Islamic rulings regarding interactions with non-mahram men, such as the obligation of حجاب (veiling), the prohibition of shaking hands, and the necessity of lowering the gaze. He must uphold his right of qawamah (guardianship) over her, obliging her to that which safeguards her honor and chastity, preventing her from what contradicts Islamic law, and keeping her away from suspicious mixing and private seclusion. It is not permissible for him to allow her to uncover her hair in front of a non-mahram man or to shake his hand. If she disobeys him in this, he has the right to discipline her.
