What is the ruling on one who dies in a state of polytheism out of ignorance, such as someone who goes to graves and believes that they possess some power, despite the fact that he prays, glorifies God, and fasts? And how can the correct Aqidah be explained to someone who does not hear well and cannot read?

The belief that those in graves fulfill needs is major shirk (associating partners with God), and the belief that visiting them is a reason for needs to be fulfilled is minor shirk. Ignorance is excused for one who has not received the call (of Islam) and against whom the proof has not been established, such as someone living in non-Muslim lands or in a desert who does not interact with scholars. However, for one who has received the call and against whom the proof has been established, ignorance is not an excuse. A distinction must be made between ruling an act as shirk and ruling the doer as a polytheist. This woman must be taught that going to graves and believing in those in graves are great evils, and she must be prevented from doing so, while supplicating for her guidance.
