The answer

If unlawfully acquired money is taken with the consent of the giver, and the recipient is aware of its prohibition before taking it, then he must donate it as charity. If he trades with it and profits, the profit is his, and he must donate a sum equivalent to the unlawfully acquired money as charity to clear his conscience, unless he is poor and took it out of necessity. Some scholars, like Ibn Taymiyyah, held the view that one who repents from possessing such money is not obligated to dispose of it at all.
