What is the authenticity of the hadith that mentions the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Aisha that the dearest of people to him among women is Fatimah and among men is her husband Ali, and how can this be reconciled with the hadith that mentions the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Amr ibn al-Aas that the dearest of people to him among women is Aisha and among men is her father Abu Bakr?

The first Hadith (definition) is weak because it contains a narrator who is an extremist Shiite and weak, while the second Hadith is of the highest authenticity and was narrated by Bukhari and Muslim. There is no contradiction between the two Hadiths, even if we assume the first one is authentic. In that case, the Prophet's love, peace and blessings be upon him, for Fatimah and Ali, would be from the category of loving his household, and his love for Aisha and her father would be from the general populace.
