Is it permissible to accept compensation from a commercial insurance company for a car accident that resulted in the death of the daughter and the injury of the wife and son, and what is the ruling on using these funds to pay off debts and to avoid resorting to usurious loans in the future?

If the wife does not neglect safety precautions, then no blood money (diyah) or expiation (kaffarah) is due from her. However, if she is negligent or transgresses, then it becomes obligatory upon her. It is not permissible to take a commercial insurance sum except for the amount paid, due to the presence of gharar (excessive uncertainty) and Shariah violations within it. Any surplus must be spent on the welfare of Muslims or given as charity to the poor. It is not permissible to take a usurious loan to purchase a dwelling as long as renting or another apartment is a viable alternative.
