What is the Shar'i ruling on marrying a girl whose family refuses to marry her to a married man, given the girl's attachment to him and his desire to convince her family, in light of "If there comes to you one whose religion and character you approve"?

The guardian of a girl should marry her off if a suitable suitor proposes, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If there comes to you one whose character and religious commitment you are pleased with, then marry him off. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." This command is for recommendation, not obligation, so the guardian does not sin if he rejects a suitor who is religious and of good character. If a woman desires to marry a suitable man and her guardian prevents her without valid reason, she may refer the matter to the Sharia judge to marry her off or order her guardian to do so. The questioner is advised to turn away from this girl and seek another, and the girl is advised to obey her father unless there is a clear harm.
