Do the three divorces take effect, and what is the ruling for each of them, and what is the way to reconcile in each case?

If a husband divorces his wife with three pronouncements, a major irrevocable divorce (baynunah kubra) occurs, and she is not permissible for him until she marries another husband in a marriage of desire and he consummates it with her. This is the view of the majority of jurists. As for Shaykh al-Islam, he stated that pronouncing "three divorces" at once is unlawful, but does it count as one divorce or three? There are two opinions: The first is that it counts as three, which is the madhhab of Imam Al-Shafi’i. The second is that it counts as one divorce, which is the saying of many from the Salaf and the Khalaf. The spouses are advised to consult the competent authority for personal status matters. They should also build their marital life on respect and good companionship, and beware of the whisperings of Satan that seek to separate them.
