Does the soul of the deceased remain suspended before burial, and what happens to it?

The soul is returned to the body after death in the grave for the deceased to be questioned. The believer's soul is returned to him, and he is made steadfast, finding comfort in his grave. As for the disbeliever, his soul is returned to him, and he is tormented. This life in the Barzakh (definition) (interim period between death and resurrection) is among the matters of the unseen, the modality of which is known only to Allah the Almighty.
