Is it permissible to open a shop for repairing electronics, audio, and video devices?

Audio and visual devices are used for both permissible and forbidden purposes. It is not permissible to repair them for someone known or highly likely to use them for forbidden acts, due to Allah's saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa (definition) that earning from repairing these machines is not wholesome because they are often used in forbidden matters. If it is possible to choose those for whom the devices are repaired such that it does not constitute assisting in a forbidden act, then there is no harm. Otherwise, it is not permissible. One should seek another job that is free from forbidden acts or doubts, for whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, and sustenance is apportioned.
