What is the ruling on one who intended to pray Witr but then slept through it or did not notice the time; is it permissible for him to pray Witr after the Fajr Adhan?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
The time for the Witr prayer ends at the break of dawn. Whoever misses the Witr due to illness or sleep may pray it between the break of dawn and the Fajr prayer, or make it up during the day, but he should make it an even number of rak'ahs. So, if his usual practice was three, he prays four; and if his usual practice was five, he prays six.
