Is it true that a Companion married his slave-girl, and his wife, due to her extreme jealousy and lack of memorization of the Qur’an, intended to kill him, so he recited poetry to her, claiming it was the Qur’an, and she calmed down, and when he narrated the story to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he laughed?

This story is not authentically attributed to the noble Companion Abdullah ibn Rawahah, may Allah be pleased with him. Its chain of narration is weak and disconnected. It tells of Ibn Rawahah having intercourse with his concubine, and his wife being surprised by this and threatening him. He then falsely claimed that he was reciting the Qur'an while in a state of ritual impurity (janabah (definition)), and he cited some poetic verses as evidence. His wife believed him, and then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, laughed when he learned of the story.
