How do we protect ourselves from those who insult and revile Muslim scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Albani, and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and what is the Islamic legal ruling concerning them?

A Muslim should seek beneficial knowledge that enables him to worship Allah, and adhere to the methodology of the People of the Sunnah and the Community (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah), and beware of looking into the articles and شبهات (misconceptions/doubts) of those who deviate. Ibn al-Qayyim likened the heart of a believer to a solid glass bottle, through whose exterior doubts pass but do not settle within it. Therefore, it is advised to avoid entering the websites of innovators who insult the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah, and to be diligent in pursuing a systematic program of learning to gain deep understanding in religion.
