Do you not mean by the previous fatwa acting upon what is more cautious, and does it harm to sometimes adopt what is easier, and why is acting upon what is more cautious preferred when there is a difference of opinion?

The fatwa referred to did not mention the term "more cautious" (al-ahwat), but rather permitted imitating any of the muftis when they are equal in the view of the follower. It also indicated the permissibility of adopting the easier opinion when the evidence is unclear and equally weighted, or when there is disagreement among trustworthy muftis. Furthermore, it pointed to Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen's preference for adopting the easier opinion when there is a difference in scholarly opinions, and not for the follower to make a preference.
