Is it permissible for me and my family to eat from an animal slaughtered as a charity for the deceased (the father)?

If one intends to give charity (sadaqah) with something, the charity is not binding until it is seized (qabd). If the poor person does not seize it, it is permissible to revoke the intention and take a part of it. It is recommended to complete the charity after it has been set aside or delegated, even if it is not obligatory. Therefore, it is permissible to take meat from the slaughtered animal for the family, and the charity is only what is given to the poor. If one intends to feed the family and the poor, and to bring joy to them as a charity for his father, there is no harm in it. Honoring neighbors, relatives, and friends by drawing closer to Allah with the meat of a slaughtered animal is a righteous deed and has a great reward, as long as the animal was not vowed. If it was vowed, it must be given to the poor if intended for them, or according to the intention of the one who made the vow.
