Are there degrees of humility (khushu') in prayer, and is an accepted prayer only that part of it which we have comprehended, and what is the difference between being aware of what is being said in it and recalling the meaning of each word?

People's devotion in prayer varies. Some recall the greatness of their Lord and reflect on the meanings of recitation and remembrance, thereby gaining immense benefit. Others have less presence and contemplation. Their levels of devotion are known only to Allah, and their rewards are commensurate with their devotion, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, a servant may pray a prayer, and nothing is recorded for him from it except a tenth of it, a ninth of it, an eighth of it, a sixth of it, a fifth of it, a fourth of it, a third of it, or half of it."
