The answer

Suicide and attempted suicide are among the greatest sins and acts of disobedience. Allah has generally forbidden the killing of a soul, and specifically the killing of one's own soul. Severe warnings have been reported in authentic hadiths for those who commit such an act. Nevertheless, a person who commits suicide does not exit the fold of Islam as long as they are a believer, but they are exposed to punishment unless Allah forgives them, for all sins are subject to Allah's will except polytheism (shirk). If the woman who committed suicide lost her sanity due to illness, she is not to be held accountable for her action because the pen is lifted from her. We hope that her illnesses served as an expiation for her sins. It is recommended for the questioner to seek forgiveness for his mother, supplicate for her with mercy, and give charity on her behalf.
