Is a husband entitled to prevent his wife from divorcing him because she is continuing a relationship with a young man she loved before marriage?

If the husband ascertains that his wife's relationship with the young man is ongoing, he must advise her and remind her of Allah, explaining that this is a sin and a dereliction of her duty towards her husband. The wife is commanded to guard her husband in her person, as evidenced by the verse {An-Nisa:34} and the interpretations of Al-Suddi and Al-Bukhari regarding it. If she repents, then all is well. Otherwise, he has the right to prevent her from leaving unless she ransoms herself from him, as evidenced by the verse {An-Nisa:19} and Al-Tabari's statement on the meaning of immorality (fahisha) in the verse. This is also with an emphasis on making a good choice when marrying and being keen on marrying a religious woman, as evidenced by the hadith "A woman is married for four reasons..."
