Can misfortunes and problems carry goodness for a person within them, and do they fall under His, the Almighty's, saying: "And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you"?

Calamities are trials with great wisdom and benefits, and much good may come from them, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows and you know not" (Al-Baqarah: 216).

Ibn Al-Qayyim mentioned that whoever knows his Lord, His names, and His attributes, will know with certainty that the disliked things and tribulations that befall him contain innumerable great benefits and advantages. And that the servant's interest in what he dislikes is greater than in what he likes, for most of the soul's interests lie in what it dislikes, and it often perishes in what it likes.
