What is the religious ruling regarding a wife who leaves her husband's home without his permission and refuses to return? Is it permissible for the husband to divorce her in this situation, knowing that he does not desire divorce due to Allah's saying, "The most detestable of lawful things to Allah is divorce"?

What the wife did by leaving and traveling without her husband's consent is considered an act of defiance (nushooz), and the husband is not obligated to divorce her. The wife must obey her husband and not leave except with his permission. It is not permissible for her to seek divorce without harm. Furthermore, the wife's father must forbid her from evil and command her to do good. "The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce," a hadith narrated by Abu Dawud.
