How does one respond to those who object to affirming the attribute of Feet for Allah Almighty, saying that the words of Imam Ibn Uthaymeen, which were cited to prove the difference between the Feet of Allah Almighty and the feet of created beings, confirm that a foot is an attribute of created beings that carries something above it, which he (Ibn Uthaymeen) denies for Allah Almighty?

Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah believe that Allah has two feet without specifying how (bilā takyīf). The evidence for this is what was narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Hell will continue to say: 'Are there any more?' until the Lord of Might places His foot therein, and then it will say: 'Enough! Enough! By Your might!' And some of its parts will be drawn together."

Al-Bukhari and Muslim also narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "As for the Fire, it will not be filled until He places His foot therein, and it will say: 'Enough! Enough!' At that point, it will be filled." The wording in Muslim is: "As for the Fire, it will not be filled, so He will place His foot upon it."

It was also reported from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Kursi (Footstool) is the place of the two feet. Based on this, the discussion regarding Allah's attributes is similar to the discussion regarding His essence. If one believes that there is nothing like Allah (Exalted be He), then one must believe that there is nothing like His attributes. And the sharing of names does not imply similitude. As Al-Dhahabi clarified, the word "hand" is a common term whose meaning varies according to what it describes. If it is said that Allah created Adam with His hand, it does not mean that it is a limb like the limbs of creatures.

One is warned against specifying how (takyīf), imagining (tawahhum), and conceiving (takhayyul) Allah's essence and attributes, because minds cannot comprehend Him, nor can hearts imagine Him. One should not listen to the people of innovation, lest it lead to misguidance and deviation.
