We advise you to treat obsessive whisperings (waswas) by ignoring them, because disregarding them makes them vanish. Scholars have differed regarding whether a worshipper must make himself hear [what he recites], and the preponderant opinion is that it is not obligatory. Based on this, there is no harm in raising your voice with the Qur'an when there is a need or in the presence of some of your family members. However, if you can pray in private, that is better.
