Intravenous injections during Ramadan (definition) do not invalidate the fast, even if they include chemotherapy. However, a nutritional IV drip does break the fast. A nutritional IV is that which suffices one from food and drink, like a glucose solution, not every injection or solution that enters the vein, such as a saline solution. It is possible to arrange with the hospital to inject a non-nutritional liquid, and if this is not medically suitable, the patient is excused. If it is possible to postpone it until after breaking the fast, then let it be done.
