Is it permissible for the people of Sunnah to adopt some jurisprudential opinions from opposing schools of thought whose scholars they do not excommunicate?

The common person must emulate scholars who are trusted in their knowledge and their religious commitment, and keep away from the people of innovation and whims, because knowledge is religion, and one must verify from whom it is taken. As Ibn Sirin said when he refused to listen to the people of whims: "I feared that they might recite a verse to me, and then distort it, and that would settle in my heart." Therefore, the questioner must avoid the people of innovation and whims, and suffice with the schools of thought of the Sunnis.
