Are good deeds accepted without performing prayer?

The scholars have agreed on theifr disbelief of whoever abandons prayer while denying its obligation or deeming its abandonment permissible. As for whoever abandons it out of laziness, the more preponderant opinion is that they are disbelievers. According to this view, their deeds will not benefit them as long as they persist in abandoning it, because Islam is a condition for the validity of performance. However, if they repent, reform, and establish prayer, whatever good deeds they performed during their apostasy will be recorded for them, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "You have embraced Islam upon what good you have done previously."
