What are the interpretations of the exegetes regarding the two verses: "Say: 'Have you considered if Allah were to make the night perpetual over you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than Allah could bring you light? Do you not then hear?' Say: 'Have you considered if Allah were to make the day perpetual over you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than Allah could bring you night in which you may rest? Do you not then see?'" And what is the opinion of the exegetes concerning the wisdom behind the ending of each verse with "Do you not then hear?" and "Do you not then see?"

Verses (71-72) of Surat Al-Qasas illustrate God's grace upon His servants by subjugating the night and day. God reminds people that if He had made the night perpetual, it would have harmed them, and He asks: ("Who is a god other than Allah who could bring you light? Do you not hear?"). And if He had made the day perpetual, bodies would have wearied, and He asks: ("Who is a god other than Allah who could bring you night in which you rest? Do you not see?").

Regarding the wisdom behind concluding the verse about night with ("Do you not hear?") and the verse about day with ("Do you not see?"), there are two opinions: 1. The first opinion holds that the sense of hearing is more active at night when vision is weak, whereas during the day, vision is more appropriate. 2. The second opinion states that hearing perceives the benefits of light which vision cannot perceive, and vision perceives the benefits of darkness, such as tranquility.
