The answer

The majority of jurists hold that it is not obligatory to accept an invitation from a non-Muslim, but they differ on whether it is recommended or disliked. In the Hanbali school, it is disliked to accept it, whereas in the Shafi'i school, it is recommended if their conversion to Islam is hoped for, or if they are a relative or neighbor. If the wedding celebration includes an objectionable act that cannot be removed, such as intermingling (between unrelated men and women) and musical instruments, then it is not permissible to attend. Likewise, if the celebration involves disbelief (kufr) or distortion, based on the Almighty's saying: "And He has already sent down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them. Indeed, Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together."
