It is sunnah to hasten (breaking the fast). It is sunnah to break the fast with fresh dates (rutab); if not available, then dried dates (tamr); if not available, then water. It is sunnah, upon breaking the fast, to say "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah) and "ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله" (The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills).
