Will a person whose bad deeds outweigh their good deeds be tormented in the Fire until their sins are expiated, and then enter Paradise, or until their good and bad deeds become equal? And is there a jurisprudential opinion on this matter?

The person who commits sins that do not amount to shirk (associating partners with Allah) is under Allah’s will; if He wills, He punishes him, and if He wills, He forgives him.

On the Day of Judgment, people will be divided into three categories: 1. Those whose good deeds outweigh their bad deeds; they will not be punished and will enter Paradise. 2. Those whose bad deeds outweigh their good deeds; they are deserving of punishment commensurate with their bad deeds, and then they will be saved and enter Paradise. 3. Those whose good deeds and bad deeds are equal; they are the people of Al-A'raf, who will remain there for as long as Allah wills, and then they will enter Paradise.

Whoever Allah punishes for his bad deeds, he will be punished therein to the extent of his sin. Scholars differ on whether he will be punished for all those bad deeds or only for what exceeded the number of his good deeds.
