A woman may marry and waive some of her rights, such as the right to a night's stay, provided that the conditions for a valid marriage are met, including the presence of a guardian (wali) and witnesses. If the marriage takes place without a guardian, it is void and must be annulled, though it can be renewed. There is no objection to the wife meeting her husband in her home according to their agreement. If the husband has consummated the marriage with your mother, he becomes a mahram (definition) to you. It is obligatory to advise the mother gently and kindly not to reveal her daughters' secrets, and to advise the husband with wisdom and good admonition if he slanders their honor, with the possibility of threatening him with reporting to the responsible authorities if he persists.
