The question

What is the ruling on the prayer of one who added one or two pillars and did not perform the prostration of forgetfulness, and a long time elapsed? And does the prostration of forgetfulness for a duty become waived if a long time elapses, even if it was due to forgetting three or more duties, knowing that one prostration of forgetfulness compensates for more than one instance of forgetfulness?

The answer

Whoever forgets the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) until a long time has passed, their prayer is valid, according to the preference of some scholars. There is no difference in this regard whether the reason for the prostration of forgetfulness was the omission of an obligation (wajib) or the addition of a pillar (rukn).
