If there is nushuz (disobedience/rebelliousness) on the part of the wife, it is permissible for the husband to forsake her in bed, based on the Almighty's saying: "As for those from whom you fear nushuz, admonish them, and abandon them in their beds..." (Quran 4:34), and based on the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he abandoned his wives for a month. However, if there is no nushuz, it is not permissible for the husband to abandon his wife for more than three nights, based on the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three [days]."
