The answer

The Prophet of Allah, Zakariyya, supplicated to his Lord as stated in Surah Al Imran: (Thereupon Zakariyya prayed to his Lord: "My Lord, grant me by Your grace a goodly offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of Prayer.") [Al Imran: 38]. And likewise in Surah Maryam: (This is a mention of your Lord's mercy to His servant Zakariyya. When he called out to his Lord with a secret supplication. He said: "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has flared up with grey hair, and I have never been, my Lord, unsuccessful in my supplication to You. And indeed, I fear the kinsfolk after me, and my wife has been barren, so grant me from Yourself an heir.") [Maryam: 2-5]. So, Allah answered his prayer and bestowed upon him Yahya (John), peace be upon them both.
