The answer

It is not permissible to borrow with interest (riba) from a bank or any other entity, even if it is for purchasing a home for dwelling, due to the confirmed prohibition and severe warning against riba mentioned in the Quran and . Allah (the Exalted) says: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger). The Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Purchasing a home is not an excuse to commit this sin. It is obligatory for whoever borrowed with interest to repent to Allah, regret their action, and resolve not to return to it. There is no objection to residing in a house built with such a loan. The Permanent Committee was asked about this and replied: "As for the house you built, do not demolish it. Rather, benefit from it by dwelling in it or otherwise, and we hope that Allah will forgive you for what has passed from you."
