How is the prostration of forgetfulness performed, and is it obligatory to repeat the prayer in case of confusion during it?
Interrupting prayer without a legitimate reason is forbidden. Repeating it to avoid the prostration of forgetfulness (sujūd as-sahw) does not waive it; rather, it goes against the of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the practice of his Companions and the righteous predecessors. Drawing closer to Allah through a prayer compensated by forgetfulness is better than repeating it. Moreover, sujūd as-sahw is not waived by repeating the prayer. Interrupting or repeating the prayer due to confusion within it is not permissible and may be a satanic whispering (waswasah). Therefore, one must learn the rulings for compensating deficiencies in prayer instead of interrupting or repeating it.
