Should I wait until I have enough money to pay Zakat after a year has passed on merchandise that reached the Nisab, or should I borrow money to pay it?

Zakat is obligatory on trade goods when they reach the nisab and a full year has passed. They are valued at their current price when zakat becomes due, and one-quarter of a tenth (2.5%) is to be given. Zakat must be given immediately when it becomes due, and it is not permissible to delay it except for a valid excuse. If liquidity is not available to pay the zakat on trade goods, it is permissible to pay it from the trade goods themselves (the merchandise), according to the more preponderant opinion. If the goods are not beneficial for the poor person or are not among his needs, there is no harm in delaying the zakat until enough of the goods are sold to pay it off. If some money is available, it is obligatory to give what is readily available, and the remainder remains a debt until its payment becomes available.
