Is it permissible for someone whose wealth is a mixture of lawful and unlawful to intend to purchase necessities or things they desire with the unlawful money, and to intend to purchase a specific item with the lawful money?

Whoever acquires unlawful wealth must repent and seek forgiveness. Then, they must dispose of it either by returning it to its owner if known, or by spending it on charitable causes if the owner is unknown. Mixing it with lawful money and intending to differentiate between them does not absolve one's responsibility.

If lawful money is predominant, one should seek Allah's forgiveness and return the unlawful money to its owners, or give it as charity on their behalf. If the unlawful money is predominant or constitutes all the wealth, one should donate all or part of it for the benefit of Muslims.

If the unlawful wealth was acquired through a means of earning and was taken with the owner's consent, it is permissible for a repentant poor person to take what suffices for themselves and their dependents, or what suffices for trade or a craft if they are skilled in it.
