Does breaking the bone of a deceased person necessitate retribution (qisas), based on the hadith: "Breaking the bone of a deceased person is like breaking it when he is alive"?

There is no retaliatory punishment (qisas) or blood money (diyah) for breaking the bone of a deceased person. The hadith reported on this matter signifies a resemblance in the principle of sanctity, not in its magnitude. For the deceased has no life, and breaking their bone is not the taking of a life from them, unlike with a living person. And their sanctity after death remains, just as their sanctity was while alive.
