What is the explanation of the Prophetic Hadith: "Indeed, when Allah creates a servant for Paradise, He employs him in the deeds of the people of Paradise until he dies upon a deed from the deeds of the people of Paradise, whereupon He admits him to Paradise. And when He creates a servant for the Fire, He employs him in the deeds of the people of the Fire until he dies upon a deed from the deeds of the people of the Fire, whereupon He admits him to the Fire"?
Al-Tirmidhi reported that Umar ibn al-Khattab was asked about the verse of the Covenant. He responded by citing a Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ: "Allah wiped Adam's back and brought forth offspring for Paradise, who would perform the deeds of its inhabitants, and offspring for Hellfire, who would perform the deeds of its inhabitants." When asked, "Then what is the purpose of deeds?" The Prophet ﷺ replied: "Indeed, when Allah creates a servant for Paradise, He enables him to perform the deeds of the people of Paradise... And when He creates a servant for Hellfire, He enables him to perform the deeds of the people of Hellfire." The Hadith is authentic due to its corroborating narrations, and the meaning of performing deeds is that Allah grants success to the servant to perform the deeds of the people of Paradise if he is destined for it, and to perform the deeds of the people of Hellfire if he is destined for it. Allah is All-Wise, All-Knowing, and wrongs no one. So, whoever strives for Paradise, Allah will enable him to perform its deeds, and whoever turns away, Allah will facilitate for him the path to Hellfire. Allah the Almighty said: (As for him who gives [in charity] and fears Allah And believes in the best [reward] We will ease him toward ease But as for him who withholds and considers himself free of need And denies the best [reward] We will ease him toward difficulty).
