What are the religious reasons that permit a woman to request divorce?

A woman is not permitted to seek a divorce except for a valid reason; if she does so [without cause], the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her. However, she is allowed to do so when harm befalls her. Among these harms are:

1. The husband's inability to fulfill the wife's rights, such as failing to provide financial support or extreme stinginess. 2. The husband humiliating his wife by beating, insulting, or cursing her, even if this happens only once. 3. Harm caused by the husband's absence due to travel for more than six months, and her fear of falling into temptation. 4. The husband being imprisoned for a long period, causing harm to the wife due to his absence. 5. The presence of an incurable defect in the husband, such as infertility, inability to engage in intercourse, or a serious, repulsive disease. 6. The husband's immorality or profligacy by committing major sins, or his failure to perform obligatory acts of worship, after she has shown patience and advised him, but he did not respond. 7. The presence of extreme aversion and intense hatred in her heart towards the husband, even if she does not know the reason. 8. Preventing the wife from seeing her family, especially her parents.
